The Last Savanna by Mike Bond

The Last Savanna is a gritty thrilling mystery. While I like the the writing style and the story line,I found the book much too violent for my tastes. But I guess that is the way of life in the Savanna!

The Road to Bittersweet by Donna Everhart

A Historical Fiction, the Story takes place in the Appalachians of North Carolina in the 1940s. This book is beautifully written with a plot that grabbed me from the first word and well developed characters that I fell in love with. When you look at the cover of this book don't let it fool you! The cover does not do the book justice!

War Of The World Makers by Reilly Michaels
Not my usual type of read, but I try to stretch my
"reading muscles" occasionally to keep from getting
bored and this was an interesting pick! Some of it
was a bit beyond my understanding and the timeline
jumps around a bit, but it was very well written,
flowed well and combined fact and fiction in a
believable manner. The story line combines a mixture
of fantasy, science fiction, history, and drama.
The characters are based on real people, were
plentiful and well balanced.. Has everything
fans of this genre look for and I recommend it!

The Promise Between Us by Barbara Claypole White

Barbara Claypole White writes a glaring, touching, raw book that takes a look into OCD mental illness that most of us have never heard of. I knew about hand washing and repetitive things people were driven to do, even to the point of not being able to leave their homes. But never have I heard of Harm OCD...such severe OCD where you fear you will do harm to a loved one. Her descriptive writing of the struggles the main characters go through to deal with their mental illnesse, almost made me anxious they felt so real! I applaud the way she handled such a troubling topic, while leading us to learn about this side of mental illness. The writing was so very well done and I am in love with all the characters in this book! Such strong fighters who all have a common goal in mind....helping a young girl learn to conquer her OCD. Also the lessons of communication and forgiveness ......not just forgiveness toward others, but toward ourselves was an important lesson to me.I would give this book a ten if I could!!!

Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions

Has everything I love in one book! Quirky characters, humor, beautiful scenery, yummy food, murder and mayhem....... All wrapped up in an interesting plot! Aunt Poldi decides to retire to Sicily on her sixtieth birthday, after dealing with her fair share of pain and heartbreak. She wants to relax there, with the remaining days she has left, by drinking herself into a stupor and enjoying the view of the sea. But life has other plans! Her handyman is mysteriously found dead on the beach, and she gets swept up in a murder investigation. I love the beautiful descriptions of Sicily, and the food and coffee made me drool! I loved all the interesting characters and her interactions with them. It's a laugh out loud good time!

One More Moon
This was a very good book and I was drawn in from the first paragraph. I read a lot of Historical Fiction, and it was exciting to read from the perspective someone who experienced it. One More Moon is told in 98 year old Elsa’s own words and wonderfully written by her grandson, Ralph Webster. It is a historical memoir of her life and her families days before and during the years of World War ll. When they move from Germany to Italy they are welcomed with wide open arms, but over the years, as the War worsens and the treatment of Jews escalates, they decide in order to keep them safe they need to send the children to family in American, and will follow later. But travel gets harder and countries start closing their doors to refuges. The story tells of love, strength, courage and the hardships one family endures in order to survived during World War ll. I was honored to read this story about Ralph Webster's Grandmother.

Wickwythe Hall
Wickwythe Hall - Judithe Little
I adore Historical Fiction, and the way this book is written is one reason why! Judithe Little has such a way with words and I was drawn in from the beginning. There are 3 very well written characters, who have depth and are likeable. I am always impressed by the amount of research Authors must do to write the books! I highly recommend you try this book!

The Marriage Lie
The Marriage Lie - Kimberly Belle
WOW!!!

What would you do if you found out your life was a lie? I loved this book! It was like a rollercoaster ride! So very well written and the characters so well formed that even the ones I did not like .... I liked!! Could not wait for the ending ..which blew me away.. And then I was sad it was over. When it was over, went through a withdrawal so bad it was 2 days before I could let new characters in my life! You have GOT to read this book!!

The Last Ballad
The Last Ballad - Wiley Cash
Good book even if it did make me angry

The country runs off the backs of the sometimes most hidden most underpaid but hardest working people. I believe this to be still mostly true today, though not as bad as the 1920's as represented in this book. I found the book very well written but hard to read because I felt angry at the very real inequality that existed back then. The characters were well written. The ending broke my heart. I enjoyed reading Wiley Cash's Book.

The Immortalists
The Immortalists - Chloe Benjamin
Would you live your life any differently if you knew when you were going to die? Four siblings are told when they are going to die by a gypsy fortune teller, but not told how. The story unfolds as we go through each ones life and find out how they handle the news. I enjoyed the Writers style. The book flowed and was easily understood. It was easy to get involved in the characters and their lives and what happens to them, and was interesting how the Author handled each one. I really enjoyed reading the book and highly recommend it.
